Although we help our clients have access to a wide range of grant programs, we specialize in the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). This program provides grants and loan guarantees to rural small businesses and agricultural producers for up to 25 percent of the cost to purchase and install renewable energy generation systems or to make energy efficient improvements to their facilities.
REAP grants may be used for eligible improvements resulting in reduced energy consumption including:
Biomass (Anaerobic Digesters, Bio-Energy)
Geothermal (Electric Generation, Direct Use)
Energy efficiency projects including Motors, Pumps, HVAC, Building Improvements
Hydrogen
Solar
Wind
Hydroelectric
Ocean/wave
REAP has $60 million in funds available for FY 2010. The maximum grant for renewable projects is $500,000 and the maximum grant for efficiency projects is $250,000. Grant requests of less than $20,000 are strongly favored.
Who is eligible?
It is designed for farmers, ranches and rural small businesses that have financial needs. All producers, including farms and ranchers, who gain 50% or more of their gross income from agricultural operations are eligible. Small businesses that are located in a rural area also apply. Rural electric cooperatives may also be eligible to apply.
